Biography:
Tike begins his third season in the Atlantic League, 15th of professional baseball, and first in Bridgeport. The speedy outfielder began last year with the Newark Bears before he was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers and assigned to Triple-A Nashville of the Pacific Coast League. In 74 games with Newark, he batted .292 with 49 runs scored, 10 stolen bases and a .398 on-base percentage.
The 33-year-old has spent six seasons in the Major Leagues, making his debut in 2000 as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Over the course of 432 big league games, he has posted a .281 batting average with 61 doubles, 16 triples, 17 home runs, 167 runs scored and 40 stolen bases. His last appearance in ‘The Show’ came in 2007, with the Baltimore Orioles. Tike began that year as a member of the York Revolution and has joined the elite club of Atlantic Leaguers to make the jump from the Atlantic League to the Majors in the same season.
Tike was selected by the Pittsburg Pirates in the fifth round of the 1996 amateur draft. |
