Southpaw Rearick Returns to Bridgeport

Bluefish re-sign LHP Chris Rearick


(Bridgeport, Conn. – March 7, 2017) – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that lefty pitcher Chris Rearick will return to Bridgeport for the 2017 season.

“Chris was a great mid-season addition for us last year,” says Bluefish General Manager Paul Herrmann. “We’re glad he’s returning to Bridgeport and we’re confident that he will continue to have success on the mound.”

Chris Rearick returns to Park City during his eighth season of professional baseball and second in the Atlantic League. Last season, the southpaw began the 2016 season with the Sugar Land Skeeters, also of the Atlantic League, before joining the ‘Fish. In 7 games (6 starts) with Bridgeport, Rearick earned two victories with a 1.89 ERA and 29 strikeouts across 33.1 innings pitched.

The 29-year-old began his professional career in 2010 after being selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 41st round of the MLB draft. He spent three seasons with the Rays organization, and the following three with the San Diego Padres. Rearick made his Major League debut with the Padres in 2015, making five appearances and striking out four batters in 3.0 innings.

In 272 career minor league games, Chris has a 3.13 ERA with 392 strikeouts in 388.0 innings of work.
