Bluefish Hire Smith as Vice President of Business Development

MiLB veteran executive joins both Bluefish and New Britain Bees

(Bridgeport, Conn. – January 25, 2017) – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that the team has hired Brad Smith as Vice President of Business Development for the team. Smith will work with both the Bluefish and the New Britain Bees in the same role.

“We are very excited to bring Brad on board for our 20th Anniversary season,” says Bluefish General Manager Paul Herrmann. “The experience that he brings will benefit our entire organization and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Smith has considerable experience in minor league baseball, starting as a 21-year old concessions intern in 1995 with the Chattanooga Lookouts (AA, Minnesota Twins) and worked his way into a president/GM/ownership role from 2005-2015 with the Kannapolis Intimidators (A, Chicago White Sox). While with Kannapolis, Smith negotiated the team’s stadium lease and naming rights, as well as managed the day to day operations of the team and facility.  A graduate of Middlebury College, Smith also has experience as the owner of the Wilmington Sharks a summer collegiate team in the Coastal Plain League.

Smith’s efforts in Bridgeport will focus on sponsorship generation and finance. In New Britain, he will oversee the team’s food and beverage program, while also assisting with the team’s group tickets, season and mini-plan packages, and suite leases.
