Revs Power Their Way To Win Over 'Fish

Three-Hits Each For Lambo And Myers

(Bridgeport, CT– September 1, 2017) – The York Revolution (32-23, 60-65) defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish (25-30, 66-59) 10-8 at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday night in the opener of a four-game Labor Day weekend series in the Park City. York finished the ballgame with three home runs en route to the victory, giving them 123 roundtrippers on the campaign, the most in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Bridgeport starting pitcher Rainy Lara (9-9) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits (two home runs) in five innings pitched, walking two and striking out seven. York starting pitcher Frank Gailey (12-9) earned the win, surrendering seven runs (six earned runs) on ten hits (one home run) across seven and one-third innings of work, walking two and striking out one. Ricardo Gomez closed the game out in the bottom half of the ninth inning for his first save of the season.

Bridgeport cut a 2-0 deficit in half versus Gailey in the bottom half of the fourth inning on a solo home run to left field off the bat of 2017 Liberty Division All-Star Luis Hernandez. Trailing 9-2 in the home half of the eighth, the Bluefish sent ten batters to the plate and scored five runs on five hits to get to within 9-7, highlighted by an RBI double from 2017 Liberty Division All-Star D’Arby Myers, a run-scoring ground-rule-double from Sean Burroughs, and a two-run double produced by Jonathan Galvez, giving the right-handed hitting slugger a team-best 73 runs batted in overall. A York insurance run in the top of the ninth extended their cushion to 10-7 as the ‘Fish looked to rally in their final turn at the pate against Gomez. With runners at the corners and one man out, Burroughs plated Hernandez with a groundout for his third run driven home on the evening, but that was as close as the home team would get as Galvez grounded out to end the threat and enable the Revolution to hang on for their third consecutive victory. Myers and Andrew Lambo led the way for the Bluefish with three hits apiece in defeat. Photo provided courtesy of Kenneth Arrington.
