'Fish Pound Out 14 Hits To Defeat Lancaster

Galvez Drives Home Four, Including A Two-Run Inside The Park Home Run


(Bridgeport, CT– June 14, 2017) – The Bridgeport Bluefish (30-23) defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers (28-24) 9-2 at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Wednesday evening as Bridgeport has now taken the first two games of the three-game midweek series. The Bluefish once again match their high watermark of the season moving seven games above the breakeven point.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Tyler Badamo (2-3) picked up the victory, allowing just one unearned run on five hits in six innings of work, striking out five. The right hander registers his fifth quality start in nine outings on the mound in 2017, lowering his ERA to 2.76 in the process. Lancaster Starting Pitcher Brad Bergesen (2-3) suffered the loss, surrendering nine runs on 13 hits in five innings overall, striking out five and surrendering two home runs.

Lancaster took a 1-0 lead against Badmao just three batters into the ballgame when Caleb Gindl doubled home Darian Sandford with the game’s first run after Sandford opened up the game reaching base on an error charged to Tony Abreu. Bridgeport answered right back in the home half of the frame against Bergesen, sending eight batters to the plate, scoring four runs on five hits to take a 4-1 advantage. D’Arby Myers gave the ‘Fish a 2-1 lead with his first home run in a Bridgeport uniform, a two-run shot to left field. The home team added a pair of runs with two men out on an RBI double by Abreu and a run-scoring base knock from Jonathan Galvez. Bridgeport made it 7-1 in their favor in the bottom of the third on an opposite-field run-scoring single to left by Sean Burroughs and a two-run inside the park home run off the bat of Galvez, his team-leading eighth roundtripper of the season. The Bluefish added a pair of insurance runs on an RBI singles by Myers in the fourth and Galvez in the fifth, completing a string of nine unanswered runs scored by the boys from the Park City. The ‘Fish finished the night with 14 hits, including seven for extra bases (three doubles, two triples, and two home runs) as they registered ten hits or more in a single contest for the 21st time in 53 games played on the 2017 campaign. Myers and Galvez led the way for the Bluefish with three hits each.
